Measuring patient satisfaction after joint arthroplasty: a survey of practices in arthroplasty registries

Background
While detailed information on patient-reported outcome measures collection by ISAR member registries has been previously reported 1–4, the nature of satisfaction outcome assessment is not well understood. Further, an international evaluation of satisfaction outcomes following hip, knee and shoulder has not been undertaken. We will therefore undertake a study focusing on satisfaction assessment and outcomes after knee, hip and shoulder replacement across ISAR member registries.
Aims
The aims are:
1) to describe international variation in approaches to measuring satisfaction after joint replacement (in terms of the question(s) and response options used and time points for administration); and
2) to understand, at an international level, the proportion of patients who are satisfied and dissatisfied with their outcome after joint replacement.
